A Girl and Her Balloon ETSY Shop

Looking for the unique? Search no further than A Girl and Her Balloon ETSY Shop. A place for things lifted above the mundane with inspired, one of a kind creations. (All credit for that goes to the shop owner, Marybeth - a cool one-of-a-kind gal making cool one-of-a-kind items.)  Things for the eccentric, the eclectic, the spifferniffy (okay, I made that word up).

My first visit to A Girl and Her Balloon ETSY Shop was filled with awe and wonder. Clicking this way and that, wondering what were some of the stories behind various items. The wide-eyed owl reminded me of the sleepless nights of college, while the grocery tote reminds me that I'd like to be more eco-friendly. The fun aprons that remind me of barely being big enough to see over the counter while Grandma was cooking. Every item was so unique, and they found their own ways to speak to me.

For the cute cook
Asleep or awake?
Curved toe elf inspired stocking
Exhausted owl
Reusable grocery tote

Shutterfly Review & Giveaway - Holidays 2012

For the last few years I have gone to only one place for my Holiday Cards. That place is Shutterfly. They're fast, easy and I always know they'll be quality. I know when the bright orange box arrives with the Shutterfly logo on it that the contents will surpass my expectations. Opening a Shutterfly box makes me get giddy inside and bubble over with excitement - every time it feels like Christmas morning.

The hardest part about making a Shutterfly card is choosing the card design. I could spend hours perusing all of the cute and innovate things they come up with. To make the decision easier, card choices can be narrowed by holiday theme specifics, colors, number of pictures on the card, card orientation, style or price. There is sure to be something for every holiday card shopper on Shutterfly.

See for yourself the fabulous photo holiday card creations you can find on Shutterfly's site:

Yes, it's holiday season - so naturally, cards are on our minds - but don't forget about all of the other awesome items Shutterfly has to offer. I'll be making my trademark personalized calendars that have now become my tradition in my family. Shutterfly also has adorable photobooks to fit any season or occasion. Would you like a list of the many things that can be personalized with pictures?: Mugs, mousepads, playing cards, puzzles, Christmas ornaments, necklaces, notepads, aprons, water bottles.. plates, growth charts, fleece blankets, keepsake boxes, stickers, ... all of these things make great gifts. And if, even after all that, you still can't decide, there are gift cards, too. If you want, you can take a look at Shutterfly's special offer page.

Shutterfly cares about all of their customers. Better Homes and Gardens says that Shutterfly is the "Best online photo service". First, they have free unlimited storage. Second, they have a 100% happiness guarantee. You'll like it or you'll get a 100% refund. Third, they never delete your photos. Popular Toddler Boy Costume - CARS!

Halloween 2012 is coming!  It's right around the corner and will be here sooner than you think.  September is definitely not too early to think all things Halloween.  It's time to get going on the kids' costumes!

I have one of each gender to outfit this year; a boy and a girl.  My girl is easy: princesses and fairies.  Glitter and glam.  But the boy...  What to do for the boy?  Superheros are always a hit, but he's still little and not really into them yet.  In our home we have a HUGE Disney Cars fan.  So, there's a high, high, high probability that we will be in the Cars Halloween costume aisle!  And you betcha that there's a whole aisle (or at least a whole page when shopping online stores) dedicated to Cars characters - with costumes, accessories and all.  Between the Cars and Cars 2 movies there is definitely  a wide selection of Cars Halloween costumes available.  The question then becomes.... Do you go with the always popular Lightning McQueen, the funny and entertaining Mater, or smart and sleek Finn McMissile?  Any of those options would be pretty easy to find.  I can't wait to see the look on my little guys' face when he sees his Cars costume!

Little Cosmetics Review and Giveaway

Let me be honest - I was hesitant when I first opened the pretty pink bag from Little Cosmetics.  My mind was racing, "make up + little hands = big mess".  The four year old was giddy - I was preparing myself for a make up monstrosity.  I opened the blush container and brushed my finger inside, looked at my finger and there was nothing.  I pushed harder on the pink blush - still nothing.  I pushed my fingernail in the blush and it made a dent in the foam.  FOAM!  Then I remembered -  this isn't 'real' makeup - it's pretend make up!  And with that realization I let the four year old dump the bag and explore the containers and brushes to her heart's content.

Little Cosmetics is pretend make up that looks and feels real.  There's no powder, no gel, no goop - no mess!
Little Cosmetics Ultimate Kit

But the question is.... who are you kidding, right?  What kid wants to play with something that's not 'real'?  Well, let me tell you - my four year old LOVES it.  That's the beauty of imagination. She gets to pretend she's doing big girl stuff, and I don't have any mess to clean up when she's done.  After doing her own make up, dolly and Daddy got make overs, too.  I fear for little brother when he wakes up from his nap because I'm pretty sure that beautician big sister thinks he's due for a makeover, too...  ;).  When the time came for me to put on my daily face my daughter was right at my side using her very own beauty supplies from Little Cosmetics.

Her own make over.
Dolly's make over.

Daddy's make over.
Mommy's make up and Little Cosmetics side-by-side.
We do have 'real' little kid make up lying around.  Powdery, shimmery, glittery fun.  But we rarely get it out because it's too messy for her to do by herself.  Little Cosmetics play make up is something the four year old can get out every day if she wants to, play with by herself and even put all away back in it's own pretty pink bag when she's done.  While watching her play with her very own make up kit I made a mental note that this would be a great birthday or Christmas gift.

Little Cosmetics kits can be customized - choose from difference powder shades, eye shadow color combos and lip gloss colors.  Kits include: face powder, blush, eye shadow, lip gloss and brushes.  Little Cosmetics play make up kits come in 3 sizes (Essential, Luxery and Ultimate), ranging from $20-$35.  Gift certificates are available, too.
